December 2016 / January 2017
The 36th Annual SCAAP Conference, October 20 – 22, 2016, was a huge success. Thank you to Joan for arranging the site and all that includes, Loren for keeping us in the black, Laurie for assisting Joan, and providing the wonderful meet & greet with Cathy, Enam for arranging all the entertaining and informative speakers, Kerry for making our baskets for the raffle and silent auction look so lovely, Alex for keeping our members informed, Rachel for keeping our website up to date, Annette for keeping our social media timely, Minnie for keeping us informed on Government Relations, and Katie for being willing to continue on the board and investigate Ethics and Standards for our profession. Thank you to all who attended; it was great to see many of our current members as well as to meet a number of new members. For those who could not attend, we hope to see you next year.
Lovely memorial ceremonies were held for Michele Nolta and Rachel Dill during the conference. Thank you to Bonnie Jacobs, Aileen Gaddi and Joan Flannigan for organizing those very special events.
Please see the Awards tab for this year's winners. Thank you Aileen for a beautiful ceremony including a lovely slide show for each winner. Thank you Holly for being the Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening and adding so much grace to the event.
Elections: Thank you Joan for running for Vice President, in charge of the Conference and Symposium. The By-Laws state that officers can stay in their positions until others are appointed. At this time I will remain as President with Kerry Whelan shadowing me. Laurie will remain as Director of Resources with Rachel Robinson shadowing her. Enam will remain as Director of Professional Development with Laurie Kjar shadowing her. If anyone else is interesting in shadowing any board position please let us know. Several people came forward at conference and expressed an interest in helping on the board. We will be contacting you soon.
Our Local Associations are doing some great things. The Local Presidents were acknowledged and given a lovely gift at the Presidents Luncheon. Thank you Holly for finding such a nice recognition. Those of you not active in your local association, get involved!
We are enthusiastically looking forward to the SCAAP Spring Symposium 2017. More information to come.
